The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on last Friday, called on broad and in- depth investigation into the abuse of Muslim children in Myanmar and monitoring of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The organization said in a statement expressed deep concern about the contents of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights report of severe violations against Muslim children in Myanmar, stressing the need to prosecute the perpetrators of such violations and empowering victims of psychological, moral and health support.
They added that the flagrant and grave violations against children in the territory (Arakan) which is predominantly Muslim area in northern Myanmar is absolutely unacceptable since it is the right of every child to gain protection, regardless of religious or ethnic affiliation.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights report described violations against Muslims Rohingya to “cruel and destructive.”
The report explained the existence of cases of gang rape and murder, including against infants and young children also the brutal beating, kidnapping and other serious violations of human rights.
