A diplomatic delegation from the Turkish embassy in Myanmar on last Tuesday visited the Rohingya refugees in the Akyab capital of Arakan.
The Turkish ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Murat Yavuz Ates was at the head of the delegation, accompanied by officials from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA). They took a tour around the camp to see the situation and also listened to the local people and what they suffer in the camp.
The delegation met with representatives of the local community in the camps and expressed concern about the ill-treatment of the Rohingya by Government, and said that his country remained in solidarity with the Rohingyas.
The delegation asked the Rohingyas why they refused to receive the NVC cards, which the government was forced them to receive, prompting a representative of the Rohingya community to clarify that, and he added that the cards made them immigrants who had acquired citizenship under naturalization.
The correspondent pointed out that the delegation after hearing the details of the subject was surprised by the government’s move.
