The United States agreed to issue a strongly worded statement on the issue of violence against the Rohingya Muslim minority in Myanmar after Malaysia provided the true picture of the issue.

Prime Minister Mohammed Najib Abdul Razzaq said in remarks to Malaysian journalists on Thursday that he was able to brief US President Donald Trump on the crisis.“When I explained to President Trump about what was happening in Myanmar and raised it, the president ordered the statement to stop the violence against the Rohingya community,” he said.According to him, Trump also ordered officials to study and send humanitarian aid to victims of violence there.

After the meeting between the two leaders at the White House, Washington and Kuala Lumpur issued a joint statement calling for an end to violence against the Rohingya minority.

He said Malaysia would continue to send humanitarian aid as well as use its influence through bodies such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the United Nations to defend the fate of the Rohingya population.
