A few days ago, they arrested their mother (Salma Khatun) because she spoke to international delegations and complained to a security official in the region. They sentenced her to six months in prison for providing false information. The family was displaced like hundreds of other Rohingya families iIn the state.
Abdel Salam was not the only victim of this incident. According to the girls, two others were killed and buried with him in the same grave. The house was also demolished. The family was left without a reliable home or family, especially without any male to protect.
The family appealed to Muslims, jurists and the international community to end this humanitarian crisis in Arakan and restore rights to the minority, and to hold accountable all perpetrators of violence, murder and rape by extremist Buddhists and security forces.
Commenting on the situation in Arakan, human rights activist Ahmed Abu al-Khair said that the Myanmar authorities continue to oppress the Rohingya people in various forms. Their soldiers are still dealing with the Muslim minority with extreme cruelty and violence. The scenes of murder, displacement and violation continue to increase despite international appeals.
He added that the authorities deliberately hide the features of criminality and hide the facts from the eyes of human rights organizations, and the Supreme Authority is still strongly biased to the perpetrators of crimes against humanity by military.
Abu al-Khair accused the authorities of not taking any role in investigating or verifying any crimes against the Rohingya, which encouraged many security and Buddhist civilians to abuse them.
