The continued suffering of the Rohingya IDPs inside Arakan, including abductions of women

30 September 2017

A video send  from agency correspondent showed the suffering of thousands of Rohingya displaced persons from the Buthidaung area, and how forests and waterways filled with stones and rocks posed a real challenge for them as they crossed over and moved to the border areas with their families, children and the elderly.

“Thousands of people fleeing the violence are forced to take off-road in the forests to avoid the Buddhist gangs who are pursuing them with weapons,” the agency’s correspondent said. He pointed out that there were serious violations faced by several Rohingya groups previously in the hands of Buddhists, including brutal torture, throwing children and old people into the river and kidnapping women.
