Saudi official: We provided for 300 thousand Rohingya refugees residing in kingdom

The Director General of the Foreign Ministry branch in Mecca and Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ambassador Mohammed Al – Ahmed Al – Tayeb, said the kingdom hosts about 300 thousand Rohingya refugees on its territory, and provided them with all means and possibilities for a decent life.

The ambassador Tayeb said this, during the extraordinary meeting of the foreign ministers of the OIC countries, to discuss the status of the Rohingya minority Muslim in Myanmar, on Thursday: “interested in alleviating the suffering of the people so that refugees can return to their homeland.”

He explained that the Kingdom is participating in this conference in terms of foreign policy based on the defense of the rights and issues of Muslims in the world, the fact that this case involves an oppressed Muslim people taken cared by his country’s government for decades.

He added: “When we raise the suffering of these people, I am sure that many of the Rohingya displaced persons and refugees in the UK and abroad will return to their homeland.”

He continued: “The kingdom has been a pioneer in calling for such a conference, and was keen to be held in Malaysia as a regional and neighboring country of Myanmar, and maintains a large number of Myanmar refugees, Malaysia is also in the ASEAN member, a regional organization in Southeast Asia, and bear the responsibility for solving this problem”.
