Rohingya women tells the harrowing details of the rapes

A Rohingya woman was able to flee to Bangladesh with harrowing details of the rape of Muslim women in the state of Arakan practiced by members of the army and the Buddhist local militia since the start of the recent violence in the October 9.

The woman recounted in a video sent to the Arakan news agency, the rapes she witnessed firsthand in her village of Rohingya Muslims nearby Maungdaw city of Arakan State.

The woman said that members of the army and the extremist Buddhists militias set up by the government those are heavily armed with weapons stormed Rohingya homes and collected minor girls and later gang-raped them at gunpoint.

The woman added that the perpetrators were sexually abusing the girls, respectively, while one of them waits in the door of the empty Rohingya home guarding the place. They also put fabrics in mouths of the victims of rape during the process. While she was leaving the village, she saw girls were subjected to severe hemorrhage and their state of health was very bad.

She pointed out that “the gang members beat several of the girls those attempted resistance with the butts of guns, hammers, sticks and wires which lead to injuries and bleeding of the many.”

In the video, the woman reports that members of the culprits at gunpoint mess around with the bodies of the girls before they were raped, and later took whatever were on victim’s body like money or valuable things.
