A Rohingya family in Myanmar’s Arakan province was shocked by the death of one of its members on the first day of Eid and the presence of his body in a government hospital with a long incision in his stomach, raising the possibility of internal organs being stolen.
A relative of the victim told Arakan news agency that Omar Sadiq was arrested on the first day of the Eid after prayers by the regime’s forces in the city of Maungdaw with an obvious charge and brutally tortured him, which resulted in his last breath in the place of detention.
“The authorities transferred Omar’s body to a public hospital and summoned his family to receive the body, but they were surprised that the body had a long incision from under the neck to the navel. It was sewn in a primitive way by doctors in the hospital.”
According to the spokesman, the hospital administration forced the victim’s family to sign a report stating that the victim was suffering from renal failure in exchange for his body. The authorities also prevented the victim’s family from transferring the body to his family and forcing it to bury him in another neighborhood.
Pictures taken after the body was taken showed signs of torture on the victim’s feet and bruises on the head and face.
