A Rohingya girl told Arakan news agency that she has been subjected to gang rape by the Myanmar army before they killed her husband and brother and left her and her child between life and death.
Arakan news agency correspondent, who met a number of Rohingyas in the refugee camps in Bangladesh, said he met the 20-year-old girl in the border area, who entered Bangladesh with a group of 15 people on Sept. 18, the correspondent named her Salma for the sake of her personal privacy.
“I was gang raped by 12 or 13 government soldiers and whenever they wanted to kill me and my child, i used to kiss their feet and beg them: ‘I will not tell anyone what you did to me, leave me alone, I’ll go to Bangladesh,'” Salma said.
“They killed my brother and my husband after they raped me. I have never experienced such hatred before as if they robbed my soul. Now also i feel great pain in the bottom of my abdomen and in the genital area. ”
After she escaped from the army, Salma spent 15 days in the forest with her 12-year-old brother and her children.
But four days before her arrival in Bangladesh, her eldest son (4 years) died.
Salma says her feet swelled because of frequent walks, but after she entered Bangladesh she found great help by the Bengali people.
“When they enter Muslim villages, Myanmar forces gather men and women and used to take them to distant places, to gang rape the girls and women, and during this process they used to kill children who cry or try to scream.
Another correspondent told the story of a woman who was raped even though she was pregnant with a child. “When I was walking in the camp of Ukhia, I met a woman, her name was Rubina Begum. I spoke with her, and said, ‘Members of the Myanmar forces raped me, and they saw clearly that I was pregnant; but they did not care about that. ”
Rubina Begum added that the soldiers came to the village and took the girls in a house from the village and then raped them in turns as others guarded from outside.
