Rohingya delegation will meet the President of the human rights mission to the European Union in Geneva

Arakan Rohingya Union (ARU) and Global Rohingya Center (GRC) have sent their joint delegation to the twenty-seventh session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, the UN titled: “Universal Periodic Review of human rights”; Rohingya delegation met the President of the Mission legal standing of the European Union at the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Ms. Christina Cookie Nnakis Office of the mission inside the United Nations building, and extended the meeting for nearly two hours, starting from tenth on the morning of Monday 22/09/2014.
Where the discussions of the possibility of correcting the situation of minority Rohingyas in Arakan under the insistence of the government of Myanmar to implement the system of naturalization issued in 1982, and discussed the pros and cons of this system and fears of Rohingyas from its consequences, and the need to help and support from the European Union in order to retrieve them the right of citizenship in Myanmar.

The head of the General Conference of the Federation of Arakan Rohingya Union (ARU) Dr. Tahir Al Arakani a member of the delegation, told Arakan News Agency ANA, saying: ” Mrs. Nnakis told us the existence of a strong resolution at the Human Rights Council in favor of the Rohingya in this regard, and it has been included in the agenda of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York for adoption it completely, and promised Nnakis members of the delegation that they will work toward relied upon to work with it and its implementation in Myanmar, ” he added
” it was also discussed during the meeting of rape cases in the inside Arakan and abroad, as well as the subject of trafficking Rohingya in some neighboring countries of Myanmar. ”

In turn, to assured the Rohingya delegations, Mrs. Nnakis said: “We are studying the subject seriously to be making the right decision in this regard,” she said she personally will do its utmost on this issue.

It is noteworthy that the Rohingya delegation consists of both the President of the General Conference and director of the human rights sector for ARU and GRC Dr. Tahir Mohammad Al Arakani and Engineer Muhammad Yunus of Foreign Affairs official sector rights.
