The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said that 60 percent of the refugees of the Rohingya Muslim minority in Bangladesh are children, including 30 percent under the age of five.
The United Nations warned of the vulnerability of children in refugee camps to sexual exploitation because of poverty. The organization said many of them had to see painful scenes.
The BBC spoke to families and children in a refugee camp in Bangladesh. Children told the BBC that they saw villages burning, and some of them saw their parents and mothers being killed before their eyes.
One refugee said: “They kill all Muslims and slaughter the innocent Rohingya minority. We have always been treated as second-class mortals, but now they want to eliminate us forever.
