The Malaysian Consultative Council for Islamic Organization (MAPIM) called on the government to recognize the Rohingya refugees so that their children can learn, and adults can work in the country.
Council President Azmi Abdul Hamid said the council was concerned that the government’s failure to recognize them would lead them to become victims of trafficking networks.
The council urged the government to investigate human trafficking and arrest the mastermind in the smuggling and killing of hundreds of Rohingyas whose bodies were found in perlis province. “Only four people were detained in this case,” Abdul Hamid said.
