Kicked off this morning in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur the extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to discuss the Rohingya minority issue in Myanmar, the ministerial meeting opened the session with narration of verses from the Holy Quran.
In his opening speech, Malaysian Foreign Minister explained that the aim of this meeting is to find a fundamental solution to the issue of Rohingya in Myanmar, noting that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is seeking to find a solution to this humanitarian problem which has been exacerbated in recent times.
And the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation , Dr. Yousef Al -Othaimeen has expressed concerns about the military operations against Rohingya in Myanmar through hazardous campaigns that killed hundreds and displaced thousands, he said in his speech: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation recorded condemnation of what happens to a minority Rohingya explaining that human rights reports proved the existence of serious violations of human rights including extrajudicial killings and denial of citizenship also burning of houses, raping women and others.
Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said in his speech that what is happening now in the state of Arakan in Myanmar is very troubling, and Malaysia is following with great concern what ails Rohingya minority maybe amounted to crimes against humanity, said Prime Minister Razak.
In his speech, he also mentioned that the issue of Rohingya is not an internal affair of Myanmar. It is a humanitarian issue and everyone must cooperate to truth so it can be put matters right, pointing out that leaving the situation as it is now may lead to many problems in the entire region and it threatens the human rights aspect.
It is worth mentioning that the transition of the Government of Myanmar to the era of democracy has increased expectations of improvement in the human rights situation of Myanmar but the reality on the persecution inflicted by Rohingya has puzzled the world.
