Myanmar’s human rights organization, the Myanmar Independent Human Rights Network, said systematic persecution of the Rohingya Muslim minority was on the rise across the country, not only in the northwest state of Arakan.
The organization said in a report that the persecution is supported by the government, the country’s Buddhist monks and nationalists civic groups as many Muslims from all ethnicities were denied national identity cards, also access to places of prayer for Muslims in some places was denied.
