The situation in Kyauktaw remains the same on Saturday as flood water submerges the entire township.

Rohingyas are living on the slopes of hills under the open sky after the military turned out of schools and community centres where they had previously taken shelters.

Meanwhile there are reports that at least two infants have drowned in the flood water on Friday.

Many Rohingya households are completely bankrupt as Rakhines passing their neighbourhoods took away everything including cattle and poultry.

Food shortages and lack of drinking water is a common phenomenon among the displaced populace made worse by the stubbornness of the government to aid Rohingyas.

Lack of medicines is also telling on the Rohingyas as many children seem to be affected with pneumonia. Pregnant women are also suffering from the laborious work of fleeing the floods coupled with the total absence of medical care.

The flood situation has improved a little in the Mrauk U area though food and drinking water shortages have remained as before.
