Burmese authorities continue their efforts to pressure the Rohingya and forcing them to accept the green cards into the effect that the holder under verification of his identity and in order to evade identifying them as Rohingya; But the Rohingya Muslims hold on to their identity and has rejected any other designation as their ethnicity.
According to the correspondent of the Arakan news agency (ANA) Burmese authorities have resorted to achieve its objective of this framework to hold many secret meetings Rohingya leaders in many of the areas where the presence of concentrated Rohingya majority in Arakan state.
The correspondent added that the Burmese authorities are trying these meetings to persuade Rohingya to accept green cards in exchange for false promises to grant their rights including the right to citizenship, as he put it.
It is noteworthy that the Burmese authorities had earlier this year withdrawn white cards with force and threat to the Rohingya in a move described by observers as a preliminary step to erase the original identity and stick description “Bangladeshis” from Rohingyas those Burmese government claims that they were illegal immigrants.
