Myanmar security forces besieged a number of villages belonging to Rohingya Muslims in Maungdaw City and attacked local residents after gathering them in one place.
Arakan news agency correspondent reported that the security situation in Arakan province has been tense since the arrival of a new army battalion sent by the central government in Myanmar to clear the area, according to statements by army officials, but began to crack down and torture Rohingya Muslims.
The correspondent pointed to the existence of reports of the arrest of many Muslims, including children, has not yet been confirmed from this information because of the siege imposed by the government forces.
