Myanmar attempts to persuade the Rohingya with incomplete citizenship cards

Arakan News Agency reported that government officials had met leaders of Rohingya Muslims in Kyauk Taw, Arakan, in an attempt to persuade them to receive temporary cards that the authorities had begun to force Muslims to receive.

The official said that the officials arrived today to the Muslim areas in Kyauk Taw and held a meeting with Rohingya leaders and tried to persuade them to receive NV cards, that make the Rohingya Muslims almost citizens obtained under the naturalization.

The reporter added that one of the attendees from the Muslims objected to the officials, saying: “This system that you have come with doesn’t include in the law that was imposed in 1982 ” noting that officials prevented him from talking afterwards.
