The Board of Directors of Global Rohingya Center (GRC) announced that Mr. Mohammad Alam Mohammad Yassin was elected chairman of the center, replacing its predecessor Abdullah bin Salamah Maruf who ended his term for the job four years after the launch of the center.
The win came in favor of Yassin after a round of nominations receiving the highest amount of votes from the members of the Board to receive thr presidency of the Center for a similar period of time he spent behind Maruf.
In this context, the Council also declared Abdulaziz Amin as the deputy head of the center after he also achieved the highest amount of votes.
It should be noted that the center, which is the executive arm of the Arakan Rohingya Union (ARU) was inaugurated in the OIC headquarters in the March 30, 2013, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Organization then Mr. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, and the presence of a number of ambassadors of member states.
