Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu discusses the situation of the Rohingya with a Bangladeshi minister in Istanbul and said he had talked with the Bangladeshi Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Mohammad Shahriar Alam about the situation of Muslims in Arakan province.
This came in a tweet published by Çavuşoğlu on Thursday, on his Twitter account, in which he explained that he met “world” on the sidelines of the 17th session of the Eight Islamic Developing Countries (D-8), in Istanbul, Turkey.
“We discussed with the Bangladeshi Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Shahriar Alam, the situation of Arakan Muslims,” he added.
He continued : “Turkey will continue express the conditions experienced by our Muslim brothers of Arakan to international forums.”
According to the Anadolu correspondent, the two sides met at the Lutfi Kardar Palace for exhibitions and conferences in Istanbul, away from the lenses of the press.
Earlier in the day, the 17th session of theof the Eight Islamic Developing Countries (D-8) was launched.
The session at the Lutfi Kirdar Conference Hall was attended by the Foreign Ministers of some Member States and other officials.
It is noteworthy that 582 thousand Muslims from Arakan province in western Myanmar, have been displaced to Bangladesh since August, because of the massacres and attacks committed by the army of Myanmar and extremist Buddhist militias.
The Myanmar government regards the Rohingya Muslims as “illegal immigrants from Bangladesh,” while the United Nations classifies them as “the most persecuted religious minority in the world.
