The Government of Malaysia said it plans to offer 10 million RM in aid to Myanmar to support the humanitarian projects and social rehabilitation in the state of Arakan.
This came from the Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak on Thursday in his opening speech at the emergency meeting of Foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states, today in Kuala Lumpur to discuss the issue Rohingya Muslims.
Abdul Razak said that the money will be used to build infrastructure such as educational and medical institutions and contribute to the development there also to improve the quality of life for its residents.
He added: ” Malaysia will continue to provide support for the development of human resources through the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme.”
Abdul Razak urged members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to provide assistance to this minority and said “We encourage and welcome any pledges of help from the Member States.”
