In Kutupalong refugee camp in Bangladesh, Rohingya Muslim refugees are facing increased harassment due to the activities of the Camp- in- charge S.M Sarwar Kamal. A refugee in Kutupalong says on condition of anonymity that they are currently prevented from leaving the camp which has become like a detention centre.

Many refugees have also being asked to report to the CIC office every day.

CIC Sarwar has said any refugee who dares to question his activities will end up in jail.

Acting chairman Ismael said, “Even though I am a representative of the refugees, I have been unable to do anything because I myself am under pressure from the CIC. Also because we are grateful to the government of Bangladesh for giving us shelter.” However he goes on to add that the Bangladesh government should treat them as human beings.

“Peace loving general refugees are being harassed while the real criminals remain out of touch. Camp authorities are interrogating general refugees for no reason,” he said.

Another refugee alleged that the CIC is under the influence of … , son of former Majhee Mohammed Farique.

Meanwhile refugees in the camp requested the government of Bangladesh and human rights group to intervene in Kutupalong refugee camp.
