Iran stresses the need to recognize the right of citizenship to Muslims in Myanmar

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for International Affairs Abbas Araghchi stressed the need to formally recognize the right to citizenship for Muslims of Myanmar and allowing the arrival of humanitarian aid.

In a statement on the sidelines of the extraordinary meeting of the OIC in Kuala Lumpur, which was held to examine the Myanmar Muslims, Mr. Abbas Araghchi said the right to citizenship for Muslims of Myanmar should be formally recognize and allowing humanitarian access to them, he also stressed that the Myanmar to put an end to this violence.

And said Muslim world will never allow discriminatory conduct against Muslims anywhere in the world.

We believe the Muslim-Buddhist conflict is a purely religious one but the major victim of this hatred had been Muslims, with Buddhists having the support of the government who had been acted discriminatingly against Muslim minority.”

Araghchi warned that Muslim world would not allow such cruelties against its fellow co-religionists; “we demand that Burmese government should intervene according to justice and should protect Muslim lives in the province; humanitarian aid should be allowed to the province for suppressed and targeted Muslims; the government has an inherent duty of protecting citizens and should address systematic crimes committed during several years against Muslims,”

Islamic Cooperation Organization began its emergency meeting Thursday to study crisis of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

They hold the meeting at level of foreign ministers where he participated for Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

The meeting comes at the invitation of Malaysia, to discuss the crisis of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar who are subjected to violence by the government and Buddhist militants.
