Helicopters of the Myanmar regime hover in the “Rathidaung” and fears of a new crisis

The Myanmar regime has sent a number of helicopters, which began circulating in large areas of the city of Rathidaunng, especially in Muslim-populated areas, to repeat the beginning of the scenario of the military campaign launched by the government forces in October 2016.
Arakan news agency received videos from local residents who spotted helicopters hovering over their areas today amid tensions between Muslims on the one hand and regular forces and Buddhists on the other.
Local Muslims expressed concern that the authorities would carry out attacks against them in an incident reminiscent of the beginning of a military campaign launched against the Rohingya in Maungdaw in October 2016, which claimed thousands of lives. Scores of women were harassed and raped, and hundreds of buildings burned deliberately.
It is noteworthy that the city of Rathidaung is witnessing these days strong tensions between Muslims and Buddhists At least five Muslims were killed by Buddhists and the city is besieged by the authorities.
