Engineer Muhammad Yunus, a member of the Global Rohingya Center (GRC) met Mr. Dato’ Ahmad Jazri bin Mohamed Johar the Malaysia’s ambassador in Qatar. During the meeting they discussed issues related to the Rohingya issue and the recent developments and in particular the subject of human trafficking also the stranded Rohingyas near the coast of Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Engineer Yunus requested the Ambassador to persuade his government to urgently solve the problem of Rohingyas stranded near its coasts and to take serious measures to put an end to the suffering of refugees those were detained and still in detention for several years now, in addition to communicating with the Government of Myanmar to recognize Rohingya and solve their discriminatory problem in the Arakan state.
For his part, the Malaysian Ambassador expressed his sympathy with the plight of the Rohingya and their suffering inside and outside of Arakan, and promised to put them for discussion and debate during deliberations with Malaysian officials.
It is noteworthy that naval vessels belonging to traffickers carrying hundreds of Rohingya fleeing persecution in Buddhist majority Burma, were abandoned by the crew after the recent crackdown on trafficking rings, these Rohingya victims have been stuck for several weeks near the coast of Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand because of the countries officials refused to accommodate.
