GRC delegation meets with Ambassador Tayeb on Rohingya stranded at sea

A delegation of Global Rohingya Center (GRC) met Ambassador Mohammed Tayeb Director of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Mecca at a special meeting about the tragic developments regarding the Rohingya issue of refusal of neighboring countries to Burma (Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia) to disembark Boats freely – owned by human traffickers – stuck near the coast of these countries, carrying hundreds of Rohingya refugees fleeing persecution in Buddhist majority Burma.

The delegation of Global Rohingya Center presented the Ambassador Mohammed Tayed with requests on this crisis was notably: the establishment of urgent relief campaign for trapped in the floating boats and refugees detained in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, and to invite the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to form an urgent team of the Contact Group countries with Myanmar to assess the disaster in the countries concerned, as well as to address the United Nations officials by Saudi Arabia to hold an emergency meeting on the crisis, and others.

For his part, Ambassador Tayeb welcomed the delegation of GRC and expressed sympathy with the victims in this crisis and support for these requests, and promised to lift the Rohingya issue with the recommendation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Kingdom Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir.
