The Foreign Affairs Committee of the US House of Representatives discussed the tragedies of the Rohingya Muslims in Arakan province in western Myanmar, and the speakers at the meeting agreed on the need to act immediately to stop the “ethnic cleansing” against them.
On Wednesday, the Committee held a session to discuss the situation in Myanmar, with a number of speakers from outside the Council.
Daniel Sullivan, advocate for international refugee rights, and Walter Lohman, director of the Asian Studies Center of the US Heritage Foundation, participated in the session as speakers from abroad.

“The violence against Rohingya the most oppressed minority around the world, taking on new dimensions,” Rep. Ted Yoho, chairman of the Asia-Pacific Sub-Committee of the Foreign Affairs Committee, told deputies in a speech.
“Myanmar officials have unleashed an incalculable and indiscriminate attack, leaving 400,000 people in their places, killing hundreds and burning villages.”
Yoho, stressed the need for global public opinion, including the US administration, to be sensitive to the Arakan issue, and to speed up the necessary warnings to the Myanmar authorities.
