An extremist mob killed a Rohingya man in the Arakan State capital Sittwe on Tuesday.

The man was one of 7  Rohingya Muslims from Dar Paing camp for internally displaced people on the outskirts of Sittwe to dismantle an old and out-of-service motor-boat which he had bought from a Rakhine lawyer.

The group visited Ywar Gyi Mrauk quarter two kilometers from the court in downtown Sittwe during a break in the trial,  when they were attacked by a gang of men from the ward. One man was killed on the spot and other Rohingya men were  severely injured.

Locals added that the mob was armed, without specifying with what weapons.

Sittwe has restricted areas where Rohingya Muslims are forbidden from shopping at the town market and entering Rakhine quarters.

The two people injured severely are currently taking treatments in Sittwe General Hospital and one man died. The local police are said to have been investigating the incident.
