A Rohingya boy was brutally assaulted by a group of extreme Buddhists in Pawktaw, Arakan.

A local source told Arakan news agency that the boy and his brother were in an area close to their village with cattle of their family and were intercepted by six radical Buddhists who hit one of them with an axe on his head as they passed on to the other but couldn’t as the other Rohingya boy had a knife in his hand.

The injured boy returned to his village and his clothes were stained with blood and his family gave him first aid.

The attacks came in the context of successive attacks in the state of Arakan, where a Rohingya man was killed and others were injured in an attack carried out by Buddhist extremists, despite the presence of security members nearby. A fisherman in the city of Akyab was shot dead by the army on unknown charges in recent days.
