British Prime Minister Theresa May appealed to the international community to act with caution and attention to those who use the fight against terrorism as a pretext for violating human rights, citing in this regard what is happening in Arakan province, western Myanmar.
“I appeal to the Myanmar authorities to end the use of violence, to allow humanitarian access to the needy and to fully implement the recommendations of Kofi Annan,” she said.
In August, former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, chairman of the Arakan Advisory Committee, handed the Government of Myanmar a final report on fact-finding in the violence against the Rohingya Muslims.
Two days after the recommendations were handed over, the Myanmar army commits genocide against the Rohingya Muslims in Arakan, killing and injuring thousands of civilians, according to Rohingya activists. .
Since that date, some 421,000 Muslims in the province west of Myanmar have crossed into Bangladesh, according to the latest international data.
In her address to the refugee crisis, May stressed the need to take further steps to identify refugees, protect them and provide them with the necessary support.
On the first step for finding a solution to the immigration crisis, May said, “the efforts for the solution should be safe, organized, legal and well managed by all concerned.”
