The former Indian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Standing Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs Shashi Tharoor said Indian tradition and history have been rich in helping the needy for thousands of years, expressing dissatisfaction with the poor situation of the Rohingya refugees.
The issue of Rohingya refugees in India has been the subject of intense debate among political parties and activists. A local official in Jammu has called for the tracking and killing of Rohingya refugees if the government does not fulfill their obligation to expel them, which has been rejected and denounced by human rights activists and other officials.
