Azerbaijan ‘s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov called on members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries to show unified position on the issue of Rohingyas in Myanmar and expressed his concern about the situation of Muslims there.
This came during the extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the OIC countries, which was held in the Malaysian city of Kuala Lumpur, on Thursday, which discussed the plight of the Rohingya Muslim minority.
He stressed: “Azerbaijan sympathizes with the suffering and the plight of Rohingya minority as a country subjected to occupation, ethnic cleansing and displacement of people due to the military conflict with Armenia for a long time. Therefore, we condemn acts of repression on Rohingya such as the killing and detention of civilians and the destruction of their homes and places of worship, we call upon the authorities in Myanmar to stop the humanitarian crisis and to ensure stability and a decent life for them. “
