Anadolu has captured new video showing villages burned by the Myanmar army and extremist Buddhists as part of the systematic violence against the Rohingya Muslims in Arakan province.
The video taken in the villages of Maungdaw in western Myanmar document the violence launched by the Myanmar army and extremist Buddhist militias against the Rohingya residents of Arakan villages since 25th August.
The video obtained by Anadolu from private sources show the extent of the destruction and looting of Muslim villages in Arakan province, as the Myanmar government continues to deny access to the media and the international press.
Last August, the former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, handed over to the Myanmar Government an international report prepared by 9 international, 6 Myanmar and 3 international experts aimed at finding lasting solutions to the crisis of the Rohingya Muslims in Arakan province, western Myanmar.
The report called for the immediate cessation of the military operation by Myanmar forces, humanitarian access for all those in need and the safe, dignified and voluntary repatriation of Rohingya refugees from Bangladesh.
Since August 25, the Myanmar army and extremist Buddhist militias have committed crimes, attacks and brutal massacres against the Muslim minority of Rohingya in Arakan province.
Since then, thousands of Rohingyas have been killed, according to local and international sources, and hundreds of thousands have taken refuge in Bangladesh, according to the United Nations.
The Myanmar government regards the Rohingya Muslims as “illegal immigrants” from Bangladesh, while the United Nations classifies them as the “most oppressed minority in the world.”
