Dr. Amr Farouk, the human rights ambassador in Myanmar, said that the campaign they are currently facing is a “genocide” targeting the Muslims of the Arakan region, pointing out that the key to resolving this issue is in the hands of China, The Security Council has called for sending international troops to protect Muslims in Myanmar.
The persecution against Myanmar’s Muslims by the Buddhist government began in 1973, he told Al-Madina newspaper.
He revealed that the crisis of the displacement of Muslims in Myanmar began in 1986, which led to the escape of about one million of them, because of torture and ethnic cleansing, strongly denied accusations against Muslims there as terrorists.
The Ambassador of Myanmar Muslims in Egypt stressed that the escalation of events, in the recent period, began in 2012, demanding the Security Council to send troops from the United Nations; to protect the Rohingya Muslims from the killing and ethnic cleansing practiced against them by the army, which receives support from China.
He called for pressure on Beijing, to stop its support for the Myanmar government, international forums, and rapid action
