Al-Azhar denounced the recent violence in Myanmar against Muslims after Myanmar forces forced thousands of civilians, including Muslims and other residents of Rakhine, to flee their homes after burning.
Since Friday, clashes between security forces and Rohingya have killed at least 92 people, most of them Muslims.
Al-Azhar said it “strongly condemns the inhumane acts against the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, which are contrary to all laws and religions.”
Al-Azhar appealed to the international community to “put an end to these heinous practices and the need to work for the bloodshed in this country in the service of world peace.”
