A spokesman for the Myanmar presidency confirmed Wednesday that there are 176 villages belonging to Rohingya Muslims, now completely empty after they escape, according to the Associated Press.
A senior UN official said on Wednesday that aid agencies should strengthen their operations “strongly” after the arrival of about 400,000 refugees to Bangladesh to escape the violence in Myanmar.
The funds needed to assist these refugees had increased considerably.
