At least 15 Rohingya people were killed and hundreds of women and children took refuge in mountains and forests in the village of Marangluwa after Myanmar army units burned the northern and southern neighborhoods of the village, including the village’s large mosque.
Arakan news agency reported the waves of displacement into mountains and forests, in a tragic scene that shows the extent of misery, lack of food, clothing and shelter, making them prey to deadly epidemics due to deteriorating weather conditions, seasonal monsoon rains and the spread of malaria-carrying mosquitoes.
Local reporters confirmed that the chances of survival for children, women and the elderly will be very small in the coming hours and they have been there for more than 24 hours without eating any kind of food, pointing to the absence of any provider of humanitarian aid.
According to local experts, the only recourse is to the neighboring Bangladesh, which is also denied by the Bangladeshi authorities’ preparedness to prevent any refugees from infiltrating into their territory for protection, calling it very shameful from the nearest Muslim neighbor.
A spokesman from the village said: “Where do we go with our children in this rain, we have only God, we have no other, we ask you to pray,” indicating the situation is very severe.
